Using the Pocket Real Estate Download

First, log into the MLS system as you normally do. (see logging in for more info). Next, locate "Tools" on the Main Menu and click it with your mouse (left button) it looks like this:

Next, locate "Pocket Real Estate" and click it with your mouse (left button) it looks like this:

The resulting screen looks like this:

Important:  This is critical because this screen tells us what data you want to have in your Pocket Real Estate program.  You may limit the data or you may retrieve it all depending on your selections here.  Be careful that you do not get more data than your Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) will hold.  For guidelines on how much memory you will need, click here. As we have the screen set above, the download would include Residential property with an Active status in all areas.  If you want to include Vacant Land and/or Multi-Family in your Pocket Real Estate program, please note that you should do a separate download for each Category. 

Next, Click the Download button and the LIST-IT system will package your file and notify you when the file is ready for download. Be patient, it may take a few minutes if you are downloading a large area. The resulting screen looks like this:

Next, click on the underlined text that says "Right Click This Link" with your Right Mouse Button and a small pop-up window will appear that looks something like this (this will vary with your browser version and your operating system):

Choose "Save Target As..." or "Save As" (depending on which Browser you are using) and a screen will result that looks something like this:

Important:  This is a critical step too, most problems people have with this interface occur here.  On this screen, you must navigate to the folder you have set-up using the Pocket Real Estate Desktop Software that came with Pocket Real Estate.  If you are not clear on this, click here for an explanation.  Although you can use the file name we have assigned you as the name of the file you are saving, we recommend that you replace the File name with something that will be the same each time you do this, something res.txt for Residential property, land.txt for land, etc.  That way, you will overwrite these files each time you download and only have to set-up the Pocket Real Estate Desktop Software once.  Click "Save" to complete this step.

Next, the data will actually be transferred to your computer from the MLS central server.   This may take a little while depending on the speed of your connection and the amount of data you have requested.  When the transfer is completed, close any windows that open and perform a Hot Sync according the instructions that came with your Palm or if you are using Windows CE perform a Pocket Real Estate Data Sync
